Personal Coaching and Goal Setting- Aligning Focus and Promoting Self-mastery

Personal coaching and Goal setting help us immensely as they are a regular feature of life at Kunskapsskolan.

Every week we have a one-on-one session with our BG coach where we talk about our goals for the week, these are our coaching sessions. We talk about the assignments we have to complete, our progress from last week, and our expected plan for the current week. We can even talk about any concerns we face, as it is a safe space that exists between the student and his/her BG coach.

During coaching, we discuss our strengths and weaknesses and how we can work on them using various strategies. The session is obliging and planned thoroughly.

Twice a year we set our long-term goals that we want to achieve, subject-wise. We work towards achieving those goals the full term and during our developmental discussion with parent-student-teacher, we reflect on our grades and the way we have performed. We discuss how we can improve our performance and our strengths. Then we set goals for the next term, we try to aim at a higher goal so that we can challenge ourselves and work harder.

Also, every Monday we plan the week by setting goals. We identify the subjects which need our attention the most and plan assignments accordingly. At the end of the week, we reflect on how much we have achieved and strategies which worked and the ones that did not and why. Goals help align our focus and promote a sense of self-mastery.
