Primary Years Programme at Kunskapsskolan Gurgaon

Empowering young learners to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners through inquiry, collaboration, and reflection.

Kunskapsskolan Gurgaon is a Candidate School* for the Primary Years Programme (PYP). We are pursuing authorization as an IB World School, sharing the IB's commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education.

Conceptual Understanding

The PYP is built around powerful, transferable ideas (concepts) explored over time, helping students develop deeper understanding.

Knowledge & Themes

Students engage with significant knowledge and the six transdisciplinary themes in depth.

Approaches to Learning

The PYP develops thinking, research, social, communication, and self-management skills.

Taking Meaningful Action

Students apply learning beyond the classroom, fostering agency, responsibility, and global citizenship.

PYP at Kunskapsskolan

The PYP curriculum is organized around six transdisciplinary themes:

  • Who We Are: Exploring the self, personal values, health, relationships, and human identity.
  • Where We Are in Place and Time: Investigating histories, journeys, discoveries, and civilizations.
  • How We Express Ourselves: Understanding and expressing ideas, feelings, culture, creativity, and aesthetics.
  • How The World Works: Examining natural laws, human-environment interaction, and scientific/technological impacts.
  • How We Organize Ourselves: Studying systems, organizations, decision-making, and economic activities.
  • Sharing the Planet: Exploring rights, responsibilities, sustainability, communities, and conflict resolution.

Although our subjects are transdisciplinary and integrate through units of inquiry, we offer the following subjects in the PYP:

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Hindi
  • Visual Arts
  • Performing Arts (Music/Dance/Drama)
  • Unit of Inquiry (Science & Social Studies)
  • Physical Education

Assessment in the PYP is ongoing and reflective, focusing on understanding and application rather than rote memorization. Both formative and summative assessments provide a comprehensive picture of student learning and development.

The PYP is implemented in schools worldwide, creating a diverse and inclusive learning environment. It prepares students to be active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who recognize and respect the perspectives of others.
