Unit 1: The Symphony of Life: Exploring Our Living World
In this unit, we explored how living organisms grow, reproduce, and need energy, with cells as the foundation of life. We studied systems like digestion and respiration and learned how plants perform photosynthesis. A key highlight was the summative assessment, where we could express our learning through creative formats like diary entries or presentations. We developed some ATL skills such as critical thinking, and research skills, and enhanced our inquiry as IB learners. I enjoyed the interactive activities, such as labeling diagrams for homework and playing a class game about the small intestine. A key skill I applied outside of this unit was research, which I used in Language and Literature to study myths.Hindi – Mihika
हवषय 1: मेरी दुहनया (Self, Family and Friends)
Design – Shaurya
Unit 1 – From Concept to Creation: Mastering Additive Manufacturing through 3D Design
Since July 22nd, I have learned so much! One of the highlights was creating a contraption for the Egg Drop Challenge. We discovered which materials worked best, like tape, sticks, and sponges. This experience taught us the entire process of product development, from the initial ideas to important documentation. We even participated in an interview, which felt like a sit-down assessment for our egg drop projects. My favorite part of this journey was when we played Roblox during our online class. It was a fun way to engage with my classmates! Throughout this experience, I developed important research skills while documenting our progress. I also enhanced my critical thinking skills as I brainstormed ideas for building the egg drop contraption and selecting a product to create. One key International Baccalaureate (IB) attribute I developed was open-mindedness, as I became comfortable with exploring different ideas and perspectives. An event I truly enjoyed was the Egg Drop Challenge. Building a contraption to protect our egg was exciting! On the day of the challenge, it was thrilling to see whether our eggs survived the drop.I&S – Shanaya

Unit 1 – Stories That Make Us Who We Are: Myths and Legends
Our unit, Myths and Legends, introduced us to the fascinating world of ancient stories from various cultures. We explored what myths and legends are, their key elements, and how to write our versions. We read numerous myths from different parts of the world, gaining a deeper understanding of cultural storytelling. Throughout the unit, we completed two Formative Assessments (FAs) and one Summative Assessment (SA). At the end of the unit, we celebrated with a fun game combining Pictionary and Dumb Charades, using song titles as clues. It was a great way to wrap up our learning. Through this unit, we developed important skills, such as research and thinking, while also enhancing our knowledge and ability to reflect—key attributes of the IB Learner Profile. I particularly enjoyed the creative process of writing our myths and legends, as well as the game we played. One skill I found especially valuable was research, which is essential not only in this unit but also in many other subjects. Researching the cultures behind the myths and legends helped deepen our understanding and is a skill I can apply in other classes moving forward.V.A- Tishya Dureja
Unit 1 -The ABCs of Art
Art is often called the language of the soul, and Ratna Ma’am, our Visual Arts teacher, has truly helped us connect with it during these three months of the IB program. Although we didn’t cover many techniques, we focused on mastering the details, from glass painting and watercolors to direct observation. Starting with the basics—like holding a brush, mixing washes, and perfecting the water-to-paint ratio—Ratna Ma’am taught us how to work on different materials and paper types. Her guidance helped us gain a solid foundation, emphasizing both technique and creativity. As we completed this unit, I realized we had practiced key ATL skills and IB learner profiles. We communicated through our art, experimented with creative ideas, and researched new techniques to improve. We were open-minded, appreciating different styles of art without judgment, and inquirers, always eager to learn more about various approaches. We also took risks, embracing the possibility of failure as part of the artistic process. As Picasso once said, ‘Inspiration does exist, but it must find you working,’ and this perfectly sums up our journeyMathematics – Sharanya Ajmera
Unit 1: Numbers and Number Systems – Civilizations and Human Interactions
The subject I am writing about is Mathematics. Our unit’s name is Number and Number Systems. This unit taught us about Place and Face value, BODMAS, GCF, LCM, and Rounding off. One of our activities was to go to the library, get math books, and then solve problems while reflecting on what we did. I improved my critical thinking and problem-solving skills, especially through working with real-world math problems. This experience enhanced my ability to analyze and interpret numerical data effectively. I enjoyed the library activity, where I could work independently and choose math problems that challenged me, giving me a sense of achievement. The ability to round off and use GCF and LCM will help me easily manage real-life situations like budgeting or measuring ingredients for a recipe.SUBJECT | BLOGPOST |
Language and Literature – Reality in a Nutshell: Short Stories | This unit, students have explored short stories. They read short stories
written by several authors for their analysis of setting and structure in short stories, such as Alice Munro, Alexander Pushkin, Anton Chekhov,
Rabindranath Tagore, Saki, Amy Tan, Gabriel Garcia-Marquez and Edgar
Allan Poe. There was a summative assessment in which students wrote
short stories inspired by the works of authors of their choice. They
incorporated elements of setting and structure into their work. We also
incorporated creative and critical thinking throughout our assessments.
The
ATL skills developed were RESEARCH skills because we researched and
gathered information to produce our short stories and COMMUNICATION
skills because we communicated our thoughts and ideas through our short
stories and analysis. During this we also became communicators.
I enjoyed the summative assessment tasks as they allowed us to develop our creative writing and compose original and coherent pieces, which I found engaging. I transferred ideas and previous knowledge to stories from other disciplines and can equally apply narrative writing and descriptions to other disciplines, such as when describing an incident or writing in other forms to increase reader engagement. – Amaan Kumar and Ahran Singh Chhabra |
Science – Atoms in Action | We started the unit by learning the difference between pure substances and
mixtures. Then, we studied atomic structure by looking at protons, neutrons,
and electrons and how they make up atoms. Then, we understood the trends
of a periodic table by group and period and learned about different
elements. Lastly, we explored the ethical and environmental impact of
chemical pollution. The ATL skills we developed were Communication and
Collaboration as there were many activities which portrayed both of these
such as Classroom Debates.
An event which I really enjoyed and benefited from was visiting the lab, as it helped me further extend my knowledge about the different elements and the chemical reactions which occur. Some knowledge I would carry from science to real life would be to not act irresponsibly with chemicals as they could be dangerous and come with many consequences. – Ribhav Arya |
Individuals and Societies – Age of Exploration | This past month in I&S we covered the topics of Age of Exploration and
Globalisation. Under Age of Exploration we covered topics like famous
explorers and their impact on the world and ancient land and maritime trade
routes like the silk and spice routes. In Globalisation we learned about the
pros and cons of Globalisation and about LEDC and MEDC countries and
MNC and TNC companies. One of the activities we enjoyed the most was our classroom bazaar, where we dressed up as an explorer we had chosen,
and sold products that they found/discovered along their journey, while also
telling the buyers about themselves and their history as we bartered. We
developed the ATL skills of media and information literacy under research
skills as we had to research thoroughly on our own about our explorer on
our own to find out more about them and their voyages and achievements.
We developed the learner profile skill of THINKER, as when we were
doing our FA 1, which was creating an imaginary explorer and a journey for
them, and creating a map and timeline about it, we had to think of creative
journeys that still made sense geographically.
I really enjoyed the FA 1 activity, as it was really creative and allowed me a lot of choice and variety of the journey I want my explorer to take, and the products they purchase along the way. I now know how to make a map which can be used in other subjects like maths, so it is a useful skill to learn. – Zack Isaac Amin |
Language Acquisition [French]-La vie en ecole (Me and my new Language) | This month in French we have been doing multiple activities from games to
refresh our concepts to new word books which help us enhance our French
vocabulary outside of class as well as inside. We have also been doing video notes to make sure we are well prepared for our examinations. We all work on reading along with writing activities because it helps us strengthen these skills . The students have been doing conceptual clarity and the developing of skills which we have left out or not addressed as much. We particularly studied school life and vocabulary and general writing. I feel like we have strengthened our skills well and refreshed our concepts. As a language skill, it can carry into better communication with others. – Samaira Chaudhary |
Language Acquisition [Hindi] | This month in Hindi, we learned about school life. How we are in school
and what all we do, how we feel coming to school, etc. We have conducted
FA’s and SA’s based on the video and texts provided to us to access and
write about. The teacher had also conducted a few activities, such as the
‘build the story’ game where we were told to pass the ball forward and
extend the story.Throughout these experiences we built our skills with
Hindi.
The hindi students had also hosted the Hindi Diwas where we had put together many activities for both teachers and students. We were allowed to wear ethnic clothing, to make it look more authentic and culturally connected. I feel like this helped us communicate with the people of our homeland was an activity I enjoyed. – Jas SIngh Sobal |
Mathematics-Probability and Integers: Games and Play | In this unit, we were learning about probability and integers. In probability, we were learning how to make tree diagrams to find the probability faster, and sample spaces to find the total number of possible outcomes. In
integers, we were learning about B.E.D.M.A.S and how it works during the
sessions. Also, we did some activities and exercises on the board so we
could have fun and understand, getting some revision before the Formatives
and Summative. We did some easy sums like 7+[81/3]*3 = 88, using
B.E.D.M.A.S, meaning we simplified brackets first then multiplication then
addition. (In this case) In maths, we had some formations on the topic and
some unfamiliar situations and some simple situations that were already
covered in class.
I enjoyed when we went to the library to study as it helped us build concepts by ourselves. I felt like I could use this outside of class when you are making a decision as you can tell when it is worthwhile or likely to be successful. – Veer Tripathi and Inesh Attreja |
Visual Arts – What is Trompe l’Oeil? | Our unit for visual arts was based on Trompe l’oeil. It essentially refers to the illusion, or deception of the eye. We have had two formatives so far, one based on creating a deceptive art piece and the other for the upcoming Swadeshi mela event. We developed my creative thinking skills by producing a meaningful illustration. We developed our reflective attributes when reflecting about our formatives. I was personally benefited by the development of a processed journal as it helps me track my work and progress. I can carry my reflection skills by using it when understanding my strengths and weaknesses to efficiently develop. – Zara Sameer Abrol |
Design – UI Design | In design we are creating a design document and our unit name is android
apps. So till now we have chosen the problem, completed the solution, and
taken different surveys. We have covered Criterion A but in the future we
will proceed to complete Criterion B,C and D.
The document was later presented to our design facilitator and we also had to write a 150 word description of our App at the very start of this document. We also took a look at other apps and saw what they did wrong so we didn’t do the same later creating our own app. – Sahaj Chandra and Madhur Chaudhary |
Physical and Health Education – Kinesiology and Sports Biomechanics | We are doing Kinesiology and Sports biomechanics in this unit. Side by
side, we learnt how to do forward rolls and practised it. After a few practice sessions, we had a formative on Criteria C which is “Applying and
Performing” where we would perform 3-4 consecutive rolls. For theory, we
started working on our ePortfolios and have watched various videos on
biomechanics, kinesiology etc. We make our notes and analysis of the videos, all in the Criteria A document. We developed Transfer skills as we learnt how to do the forward roll, visually and then applied it into our performance. We later on analysed it with the help of the forward roll
procedure we wrote. We developed Research skills as well when reviewing our forward roll and we research motion of joints and steps of a forward roll.
I can use flexibility for general physical activity. My favourite activity from the unit so far is our varied gymnastics work for practice in abilities. – Mysha Ali Khan and Sara Mori |
IDU (L&L and I&S) – Vedika Mitra Kohli
UNIT: The Rights of War and Peace
This unit for us was an IDU unit between L&L and I&S, and the name of the unit was “Rights of War and Peace”.
In L&L, this unit was all about war poetry and the story and factual details behind it, whereas in I&S, the unit was all about learning about the Great War, also known as World War 1. These two disciplines were intertwined through the fact that all the discussions were related to a violent conflict.
A few highlights of this unit were, analysis of war poetry, the introduction of the SWIFT (Symbolisation, Words, Imagery, Form and Theme) method of analysis, the presentation on one of the war poets, the newspaper cover on the Treaty of Versailles and League of Nations, and the SA.
FA 2 for I&S required us to create an aesthetically appropriate newspaper cover with 2-3 articles. This FA encorporated the organisation skill and the skill of producing text which is derived from L&L. The IDU SA, which marked the end to this unit, required all of us to create a final product on any conflict, in the form of any creative piece. The requirements were a planning document in which we documented all our progress including the set timeline and the changes that were added to it, a research document in which we noted down all our learning about the conflict we had chosen, a research report which incorporated all the important information from our research which was to be used in the creative piece as well, and a final product which could be any creative piece. The creative piece had to be relevant to the conflict and have a few factual references conveyed in a creative and engaging manner. This required the skill of research, investigation, development of ideas, and evaluation which are all derived from I&S.
This unit helped me develop and improve upon many skills such as time management, research, investigation, development of ideas, planning ahead, creative and critical thinking, compilation of information and media literacy. This provided me with an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone, be a risk taker, and explore new genres and styles of writing and make them my own.

UNIT: Stamping
For the first Visual Arts unit of this year we began by learning about stamps and the art of stamping. We talked about different types of stamps, how to use stamps and about artists who used/use stamping as their main or primary method of creating art. We researched and investigated one artist and critiqued one of the artworks done by them in the medium of stamping.
Later on we created our own linocuts (linoleum stamps) by carving out designs into small pieces of linoleum with carving tools. Once we were done carving out the stamps, we prepared the oil based ink for the stamping procedure. The colours of ink available were black, white, red and green. We also had a session on stamping with found objects where we went out into the playground and used different natural objects we found to create an art piece.
This unit is an overall immersive and interactive experience. It made us develop new skills like organisation skills as we managed our materials and set goals and strategies to move forward with our pieces. We developed the IB learner profile:- Risk-Taker as we used new materials and worked in a medium we are not familiar with.

UNIT: Microbes in Motion
In our unit on Microbes in Motion, we explored the differences between illnesses caused by bodily malfunctions, like diabetes and heart disease, and those caused by pathogens such as bacteria and viruses. Understanding these distinctions is crucial as we identify various pathogenic microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, and learn how they operate and lead to illness. We also examined how pathogens are transmitted through contact, air, food, water or vectors and discussed the body’s defence mechanisms that protect us from infections.
We also learned about the differences between signs and symptoms, and how to identify and classify them. We gained knowledge about the difference between individual and community health and analysed the importance of community health and how it is individual health, but on a larger scale.
Additionally we also did experiments and analysis that helped us understand disease outbreaks and the effectiveness of public health responses. By focusing on specific infectious diseases, we learned about their causes, symptoms and treatments. Emphasising prevention, we also learned about tips of prevention and the structure of pathogens.
This unit gave us knowledge to make informed health decisions and promote well-being in our communities.

UNIT: Introduction to Web Design
In the first unit of design, we came up with real life examples of the application of animation, as that is the chosen concept for this unit. Afterwards, Ritesh Sir introduced us to the egg drop challenge, in which all the MYP grades competed.
We first had to understand the fragility of the egg and how to keep it intact. Then came the step where we practically implemented our skills and created a stable contraption so that the egg does not fall out of the contraption during the egg drop. We had to make sure that there was protection and cushioning all around the egg so that the egg would not crack, no matter which part came in contact with the surface during the egg drop. While evaluating and modifying our contraptions, we mainly reflected upon factors such as wind resistance and shock absorption.
There have been a few obstacles in my journey to achieving certain goals in this subject, but the effective and enjoyable pedagogy along with the intriguing topics have helped me to overcome all challenges. I also got the opportunity to learn about basic formatting in documents, along with document formatting in context to the design cycle.
In the making of my contraption to protect my egg, I used the skill of knowing and understanding along with the skill of creating and developing a design, whereas, during the documentation for the design project, I was able to develop skills such as organisation, structuring, researching, implementation of skills, development of ideas and providing solutions to problems.

UNIT: La vie en école ( School life)
In the first unit of MYP-3 LA (French), we have learnt and discussed the daily life of a student. We learnt about objects we use in school, like stationary, desks and chairs. We also learnt about the life of Malala Yousafzai. The best activities we did include our Formative Assessments as they really helped us prepare for our Summative Assessment, and one student read a page of the book “The Little Prince” everyday in class which helped us build our vocabulary. We developed our thinking and communication skills through the work we did in class, and the IB Learner Profile attribute we developed was risk-taker as we were challenged to make use of new phrases and verbs in our assignments and assessments.
The activity which helped me progress in the language was our second FA, as the feedback provided by the teacher let me do well in our SA. In this unit, we made use of many new words, verbs and phrases and we also learnt how to introduce ourselves in detail. This can really help me when talking to someone who speaks French or is French.

Science and Math IDL: Siya Chandra Patterns in Motion
This unit was an IDU between math and science. We studied topics such as calculating density and collecting and interpreting data through mathematical representations.
In our Summative Assessment, our task was to create an infographic based on climate issues. We were assigned different topics such as:
- Increased Frequency and Intensity of Heatwaves
- Extreme Weather Events
- Increase in the Level of Greenhouse Gases
- Impact of Rising Temperatures on Wildlife
- Impact of Melting Glaciers on Sea Level Rise
I was given the topic “Impact of Melting Glaciers on Sea Level Rise." For this project, I conducted interviews and collected responses from students and teachers from our school.
Once I collected all the relevant information, I noticed that most students replied to the questions, saying they dislike going outside and wish it was less hot, whereas the teachers mostly replied by talking about how they never used AC during childhood and used to play outside because there used to be pleasant weather every day.
I researched and found a mathematical representation which proved my data was collected successfully. Then I came up with a conclusion: the high greenhouse gas emissions are leading to climate change, causing the melting of glaciers and resulting in the rise in sea levels. I researched and was able to suggest ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. I really enjoyed this unit as I was able to develop new skills such as critical thinking, transferable skills etc.

Unit 1: Wearable Tech
In design, I feel that us as a collective work well together and create an environment where we all push each other to improve on our work, i feel that us as a collective want to work together for the common improvement of our Criterias in design, this helped us eternally and caused us to have an great batch of people to work with. More importantly I feel we are all achieving our respective ATL skills, we used critical thinking skills and enjoyed working. On solving real world problems.
I personally think that I myself improved as an independent worker and it allowed me to access new kinds of my personality which I have not explored yet. It helped me not only grow as a person but as a learner too, this allowed me to gain intelligence on design and what is necessary for me to improve and gave me an insight to real world problems and ways to solve them, all in all I feel we as a collective and I myself are on the right track to being a disciplined learner.
Language Acquisition (French) – Lavith Anand
Unit 1: Moi et ma nouvelle langue (Me and my new Language)
During the beginning of the unit, we started with activities focused on Les Pays Francophones, where we learned about French-speaking countries and even used boarding passes to virtually "visit" each one!
We celebrated Halloween by singing French songs, bringing the holiday spirit into our learning. We’ve also been drawing and describing our families, which helped us practice vocabulary and adjectives. Talking about professions has been great to engage me with the different job opportunities in France and globally, helping me communicate with individuals outside of my local area.
